Adam Schlesinger (1967-2020)
This is the song that’s haunting me this morning. I think Adam Schlesinger (in partnership with his Fountains of Wayne bandmate Chris Collingwood) is maybe the only songwriter that could pull this conceit off. A young quarterback is trying a Hail Mary at the end of a big game (while picturing his family at home watching gathered around the big screen TV) and somehow it means so much more.
