New Songs (Show #193)

These are the brand new songs I played during the latest Lost in the Tracks show (#193).

"Shades Of Blue" - Paul Weller

I've been fell out of touch with the former leader of The Jam and Style Council over the years, but this is a worthy re-introduction. A stately, well-crafted beauty.

"Cherry" - Anna Fox Rochinski

A tuneful pop song with a shimmering surface and just enough weirdness and individuality to make it interesting. Title track from Anna's debut album.

"City Watched Me Burn" - Anne Freeman

Another rich pop song with a touch of jangle in the guitars and a yearning ache in the vocals. For me, reminiscent of dreampop bands like Camera Obscura. Anne's debut album Keep It Close will be out in June.

Oh Christine - Reigning Sound

The Reigning Sound return after a seven year absence with a sweet mid-tempo slice of soulful rock.

"Can't Believe" - Jeff Symonds

Catchy power-pop about saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. From Jeff Symonds, a veteran of the Bay Area music scene and co-host of the excellent 50 Years of Music w/ 50 Year Old White Guys podcast.

"Coin In My Pocket" - Mimi Naja

From a solo EP by the Fruition guitarist and mandolinist. An upbeat indie folk song about things that keep us on the right path.

Idea and format for these posts came from the Music Savage website.
